A rich trading history

The cottage / wharf along with the adjacent lime kilns were built in the early 1800’s with the purpose of carrying on the trade in coal and lime. A weighing machine and crane were installed with stables and workshops built too as the site developed.

Goytre Wharf is located at the top of the lime kilns, adjacent to the cottage so it’s likely that materials were brought to them by water.
